What does it mean to you to be full of Joy? For me when I first heard this I thought of walking around with a silly grin on your face, taking hits from people as they walk by saying thank you, lining up for the next one. I think there is more to it than that. I think what it means is no matter how down and out the circumstances are. No matter how hard things hit you. People can't even tell when seeing you that your Adidas Unsx Tech Super - Black / Chalk
Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2 4(NASB)

This was one of the most real conversations I have ever had with anyone. Here my wife, the champion of my heart and the master of our family looked helpless as she heard the news her husband needed surgery. So as calmly as I could we talked about it. Tears streaming from her face. The kids had the first day of school tomorrow. Here mom who was watching the kids needed to run errands. Life felt as any moment could come crashing down. I told her that I wanted to do this today. I did not want to wait. The look of "Are you sure" was all over her face. I said this was the right thing to do. And after my surgery she can leave and take care of the home. I told her I am just down the road. The people here are good at what they do and she needed to focus on getting the kids off to school. Rose was torn but in this Joy of the situation that I was holding onto peace was found and it gave her the confidence to leave her pre op husband and go take care of our family. Inside I remember saying "The Joy of the Lord is my Strength" over and over again.
When in Joy it increases our faith, it changes the atmosphere around us. Situations that seem bleak turn to light. Back in 2010 I woke up in the middle (2:00 am) of the night with one of the worst pains in my abdomen I have ever felt. It started off a little dull but kept increasing. When I finally gave in I was double over on my bed telling my wife I think there is a problem. My pain tolerance is quite high and I don't let a little pain slow me down. So off to the ER in a rush. Quickly seen and medicated up. They were concerned of my heart because of the area I was telling them the pain was coming from. So machines were all over the place, no idea what was going on. Out of my mind with the drugs. Rose my wife was confused as to what to do. And all the while I knew I was going to be fine. In that chaos the peace never left the room. No panic was around. The nurses and Doctors were confident in what they did and they did it well. After some Adidas Y3 Trainers Black
When you stand in trials lean on your Joy to increase your Faith. It will empower you and others around you. Adidas Sl Loop Runner (Frost Mint/Black-white) You will be surprised on the outcome. I know I was.
So about 20 minutes to 12:00pm they came and got me. Rose walked me as far as she could. The prep medication drink they gave me was starting to kick in. But I remember telling her "Rose, I love you. You are the best thing I have in this life. God is not going to take me away. He has got this." Tears running down her face she said "You bet your ass he won't." I love my wife and the eloquent words she uses at times. The next thing I remember is waking up in my room. My wife at my side and the Joy of the Lord covering me. I saw it as a gold cloud laid out all over me.
When I got to my room not once did I ever place myself into grief of the unknown. It could have easily came but I knew "All things work together for Good." That verse kept floating into my head. Rose was there coordinating home life from the hospital room. The pain had never left. The medication just allowed me to bear it a little more. Then about 8:30am a man came into my room. He was a heart specialist. "Good news he said, you heart is fine. But we found something else with your gallbladder. So here is Doctor (don't remember his name) and he will take it from here." Praise God I thought. I am not going to be another 30 something with heart disease or worse. Here comes this older Doctor into the room. He was a breath of fresh air. He loved his job, that is all I can say. He started right in on how my gall bladder is full of stones and I passed one tonight. "Holy Cow" I said. "I would not want that pain on my worst enemy." We all laughed and he went on to express the urgency and it needed to come out. NOW! He had an opening at 12 (in about 70min) and his team was ready to go. I asked for 5 minutes with Rose and they all left.
During this event if I ever wavered to allow chaos to enter or any doubt that it would not be ok to take a foothold the impact of this situation would have been so much different. I found my hospital room becoming a place of joy as people visited. People who had not seen each other in a very long time had time to reconnect. At times I just watched as people were enjoying themselves. This was not for me but the people around me. A dear friend of mine who had visited me said I gave her hope for an upcoming surgery because my attitude was so different that anyone she had seen in a hospital room just out of surgery.
